Sites featured in articles like Worst Websites of 2010 often are redesigned, which explains why some sites mentioned in my articles don't match their current look. The Daily Sucker features current examples of bad web design which haven't been fixed (yet).
If you see a site that you think sucks, email the URL to me. No personal pages (personal pages are supposed to reflect the individual's personality and artistic freedom) or web site designers (it would look like a conflict of interest), or others of their ilk.
Submitter’s comments: As you might realize from the link I’m going to send you, I’m a Spaniard. Seeing how there are elections coming soon, I went to register in the local section of my favourite party. I went to the national site and checked on my specific zone. And, after checking the website, I’m starting to have my doubts. The site is 3 years old by now, but that doesn’t really make that much of a difference. You don’t even need to speak Spanish to see the randomly coloured text, broken pictures, SUDDEN CAPS, a banner you can’t click on, horrible header… And, most painfully, they don’t even use the party’s current professional logo, but a GIF showing badly cropped logos from the previous century. Most links from the website are broken, but that isn’t that surprising by now.
My main question is why they haven’t taken that website down yet, when they can clearly make a professional site- the correct one appears 2nd on a Google search (under the horrible one), but, as I said, the official website links to the wrong one- it’s depressing.
Vincent Flanders’ comments: What’s depressing is that your English is better than my English <sigh>. Americans. Ya gotta love how we’re so cosmopolitan <grin>.
On the plus side, it looks like everything that’s a link is underlined. This is helpful because we have links with different colors, sizes and capitalizations.
Vincent Flanders’ comments: Since this type of mistake is easily fixed, I’ve provided a video and a screenshot.
First, the video. I’m hoping stupid WordPress shows the video in the iframe below. Make sure you click the bottom right to get the full screen.
NOTE: Looks like stupid WordPress is being stupid and not showing the iframe. If the YouTube video doesn’t show up in the iframe because WordPress is stupid, here’s a link to the video on YouTube.
Vincent Flanders’ comments: It’s a classic example of an Over-the-top Website. Commenting further would be a waste of my and your time. The site can only be saved by nuking it.
Submitter’s comments: I found this site today and it took me five minutes to realize that to get a menu you have to… (deleted by Vincent Flanders). The designer left the “Untitled Page” default title.
Vincent Flanders’ comments: I deleted the explanation of how to find the menu because I want you to enjoy the process of finding it. What’s the process? Luck—or, perhaps, agony.
This site proves my theory that there’s a finite amount of good web design and an infinite amount of bad web design. This site is a definite contender for Worst Web Site of 2011.
