The At Least He Got to Marry Tawny Kitaen Award for Rock Star Has-Been Web Site

I was recently discussing the band Whitesnake with someone in a chat room while listening to an online rock radio station. I went off in search of info on the band, and googled using their name and came up with this site.
It's obviously the official band site, or I'm presuming it to be since davidcoverdale.com leads to the same page.
I was horribly dismayed when the opening splash page opened and I was treated to what I can only describe as one of the most amateurish attempt at an animated GIF I have seen in some time, which then abruptly leads into a Vincent Flanders nightmare of Mystery Meat Navigation that left me wondering if someone had set this page as a joke.
Unfortunately, it's horribly true, you need to scroll horizontally for miles and even then you aren't enlightened in any way, the content is a hodge podge of images and links which don't give too much away or have any real purpose other than to take up space. Please, make them take it away, I'll need medication :p
My original comments: I'm always saying "The problem with using XYZ sucky web design technique on a band/art/music site is that other designers will feel it's OK to use it on "regular" commercial web sites. On Monday, Korg was the Daily Sucker because of its horizontal scrolling and Whitesnake uses the same technique.
What's worse about Whitesnake is they use Flash on the home page and if you don't have the Flash plugin you can't see the site. Hmm. Maybe that isn't so bad after all.
The site needs more pictures of David Coverdale's ex-wife.
Reader comments: I'm sure glad this isn't a commercial site where I was looking for something so I could send in lots of money. I suspect the heart of the problem lies with a newbie who is doing things "just because I can" - which we have all seen before. The terrifying part about this site is that this kind of crap might be thought of as a "really neat way to do our site; what do you think, JR?"
Incredibly ugly design and colors. And what's with the splash page? It doesn't even look cool, not even remotely. Just plain old ugly. The horizontal thing is annoying, but I suppose it is some kind of a try to make something that no one else has got.(except Korg) I guess it didn't occur to the designer, that maybe there is a reason that no one is using horizontal scroll design? ;)
Holy christ on crutches - this is the most disgusting piece of design *ever*.
I used to like Whitesnake when they had marsden and moody on guitar, bet hey - I was fifteen, OK ?
I saw Whitesnake open for Quiet Riot in Rapid City, SD back in 1984 (ye' old Slide It In tour). Definitely stomped all over Quiet Riot, should have been the main act rather than the opening act.
Too bad they don't put as much work into their Internet presence as they do with their music. The never ending horizontal scrolling is definitely the worst web site design I've ever seen.
I guess this is what happens when MTV abandons real rock & roll for this alternative to rock & roll they bang on these days. Today's lame musicians featured on MTV have super nice web sites and the bands MTV abandoned all have horrid web sites like this...What a shame...
