The Daily Sucker - Current examples of bad web design

The Daily Sucker

Sites featured in articles like Worst Websites of 2010 often are redesigned, which explains why some sites mentioned in my articles don't match their current look. The Daily Sucker features current examples of bad web design which haven't been fixed (yet).

If you see a site that you think sucks, email the URL to me. No personal pages (personal pages are supposed to reflect the individual's personality and artistic freedom) or web site designers (it would look like a conflict of interest), or others of their ilk.

If I think there's some merit to your selection, I may post it along with some commentary. If you know of a site that qualifies, let me know.

Submitter’s comments: Zolve.com zucks. This site was written about in the Denver Post, so off I went to look at it.

Imagine my frustration when I could not figure out how to shut the (pejorative term deleted) up.

Vincent Flanders’ comments: The site was profiled in TechCrunch. I’d like to Tour Zolve, but I can’t. I think that the woman only shows up once in Internet Explorer — I’m assuming that’s because of cookies — but shows up more often in Firefox. Still, there’s no way to stop her in mid spiel.

Actually, I just made the woman show up by clicking on an arrow at the bottom left of the screen. Still, this is a lot better than most Flash sites where the woman would show up every time you went to the home page.

According to the Charles Web Debugging Proxy, a really hot, hot tool I just discovered, the home page is 2.6MB, with the Flash woman taking up 1.8Mb of that total.
